About the Artist - Salina
Salina Hyder has always had a love for the water. Whether it be a lake, ocean, or river, there has always been an attraction and desire for her to re-create its beauty.
Salina earned a BA in Fine Art from Olivet College in Michigan. After graduation, she moved to the Florida Keys where she worked as an art consultant for world-renown marine wildlife artist Wyland.
While in the Keys, she was an avid boater and deep-sea fisherman. Combining her love for water and art, she began to excel at nautically themed paintings and drawings incorporating the boats of her neighbors and friends in her paintings.
She has been inspired by other nautically themed artists such as Kerry Hallam, and Michigan artist Kathleen Chaney Fritz.
Art On The Water's studio is currently located in Monroe, Michigan. Salina is an active member of the Detroit Beach Boat Club where she has served as Power Fleet Captain and Entertainment Chair....go figure! It is there on Lake Erie that she spends all of her summers constantly surrounded by the things that inspire her to create her nautically based artwork..... .....boats, water, and people who LOVE to party there!
